Eurrail Pass

When you purchase a Eurrail Pass from All Europe Rail, you are probably thinking primarily about train travel. You might never have guessed that your Eurrail Pass is good for much more. In many places in Europe, your pass can be used for travel on ferries as well, as well as afford you other Eurrail pass holder discounts on hotels, tours and much more.

Some international connections on shipping lines between Italy and Greece, Sweden and Finland, as well as between Germany and Finland, are completely free. You may also be able to take a Rhine cruise in Germany or travel the lakes in Switzerland free of charge. Other lines offer reductions to Eurrail pass holders.

Certain rules do apply. For free international ferry travel, your Eurrail pass has to be valid both for the country you are departing from and the country you are arriving in. If you are getting a discounted rate, your pass only has to be valid in either the country of arrival or the country of departure.

If you are traveling within a country, your pass only has to be valid for the country concerned. The rules governing the exact discount given or whether the trip is free can change, so it pays to check the specific route. Currently the following countries offer free or discounted travel by ferry to Eurrail Pass holders--Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
