Travel Europe

When planning to travel Europe there are an infinite number of possibilities--rail, bus, car, ship and air. However most travelers find that the best way to travel Europe is by rail with a Eurail pass from All Europe Rail. With a Eurail pass you are ready to travel and explore Europe as the Europeans do, by train. A Eurail pass makes it possible for everyone to design their own travel route to suit their needs and preferences. The following six day Eurail flexipass trip from Madrid to London is a great example of a well planned rail journey in Europe.

Begin your train trip in Europe by taking in the culture and beauty of Madrid. Then use the first day of your Eurail pass to travel on the AVE to Barcelona. After spending a couple of days in beautiful Barcelona, use your next day of Eurail travel to take the Talgo Elipsos overnight to Geneva. If you time it right, your travel day will still be active when you reach Geneva. Take advantage of this and use your pass to take a day trip by rail to Montreux. Return the same day to Geneva via the ferry that crosses from Montreux to Geneva. This ferry crossing is a bonus enjoyed by most Eurail pass holders.

Use your third day to travel overnight from Geneva to Amsterdam. Once there you can spend a few days visiting museums and walking around the Dam in the city center. A visit to the Anne Frank house or a bike excursion into the countryside are also interesting things to do while in Amsterdam. Afterwards, use your fourth Eurail travel day to take the Thalys high-speed train to Paris. It is important to note that reservations are required on this bullet train, and Eurail pass holders are required to pay a supplement in order to ride on this train.

Once in Paris, you will have no shortage of things to do. If you wish to see Versailles, and you are still on an active Eurail travel day, then use your pass to take the train to this magnificent palace. Once you have had your fill of French culture you are then ready for the last leg of your trip, Paris to London on the world famous Eurostar Chunnel train which travels under the English Channel. Your Eurail pass does not fully cover this high-speed trip from Paris to London, but does afford you a discount. You will then zip off to London at up to 300 kilometers per hour. In London you can have a pint, visit the British museum, and reflect on a long journey that has planted the seed for future exploration.
